Bathing Waters Status on the Almond Decided

The Forth Rivers Trust in partnership with West Lothian Council applied for bathing waters designation for a section of the River Almond at Almondell Country Park. We have now been advised this has NOT been successful.
Further clarification has highlighted that the samples taken by SEPA identified that the water quality in 2021 was “poor” . We are very disappointed with this as we had hoped the designation would ensure there was adequate information for the community to use the river safely without fear of getting ill. We will be working with local community groups such as River Almond Action Group – RAAG & Friends of Almondell to to identify what action can be taken.
