The team were at the Canal Fun Day in Linlithgow this weekend promoting healthy rivers and the work which will be benefiting the local River Avon. Once a very healthy salmon river, the loss of healthy breeding habitat has meant there has been a crash in fish numbers along the whole length of the river. The RiverLife project aims to address this by providing enhancement work on the upper reaches of the river. Click here for more details.

Back to the Fun Day, this was a great community event successfully organised by the Linlithgow Union Canal Society which brought hundreds of local residents together to celebrate the union canal in quite a unique way. This event is well known across the region for the Cardboard Boat Race. Organisations and individuals raced their homemade cardboard boats around the canal basin, hoping to stay afloat and get back to the start. Sadly the RiverLife team didn’t enter this year, but now we have managed to steal some ideas for next year…
