Crowdfunder – Clean Rivers, Healthy Rivers
Help us crowdfund for clean and healthy rivers. We are looking to our followers to help us fund our Clean Rivers, Healthy Rivers campaign.
Pollution from outfalls can impact rivers anywhere but especially here around the Forth due to the built up nature of the landscape.
Our “Clean Rivers, Healthy Rivers” campaign aims to raise much needed funds to kickstart a citizen science programme called Outfall Safari.
Outfall safari was developed by the Catchment Based Approach in England in partnership with Thames Water, The Environment Agency, NGO’s and the Zoological Society of London and is a way to map outfalls which may be sources of pollution for rivers.
We plan to work with communities to collect information on where there are outfalls into rivers around the Forth, map them out on an interactive map, assess their impact on the river and create a heat map showing where hot spots are for pollution from outfalls.
The money raised through this campaign will be used to set up an online reporting tool to help communities report outfalls into us. We will also buy equipment for communities to undertake surveys and run training days so communities understand how the citizen science project works.
We need your help by donating to the campaign. We are trying to raise £2,500 to kick start this campaign but, for every £1 raised, we will receive an additional £1 from The Big Give up to a maximum of £2,500. This would leave us a pot of £5,000 to kickstart this project.
Donations must be raised during “The Big Gives” Green Match Fund campaign which launches on the 22nd April at 12pm running until 12pm on the 29th April.

Thank you for supporting the Trust and communities around the Forth tackle pollution in their local rivers.
