Eel week draws to a close
Now we draw Eel Week to a close with a positive story. Since 2011 there has been an increase in the young eels making it back to European coastlines. The downward slope had not changed and maintained this positive trend since the 80s.
This year’s data has obviously been interrupted by COVID-19 (like everything else), but the anecdotal reports coming in are extremely positive. Watch the video below to see glass eels migrating on the River Severn and River Parrett.
If you are interested in learning more about eels, please get in touch! As soon as things are back to normal there will be plenty of volunteering opportunities as part of our two eel projects this year. Until then please share your eel stories with us.

We hope you have enjoyed Eel Week and thanks for engaging and following our stories. We hope this will become a regular occurance in years going forward.
