Eel Week Launches Today, 13th April 2020
This week will be a celebration of the European eel. We Hope by the end of the week you will be just as crazy about them as we are.
As many of you know we were holding the first eel conference in Scotland at the end of this week, but due to COVID-19 we have postpone this toward the end of this year. In place of the event we wanted to still promote this brilliant animal and devote the whole week to sharing its story. There will be a mixture of posts from scientific findings to games you can play with the whole family.
As part of the Trusts work within Scottish waters we are running two eel projects this year. The “Forgotten Fish Project” looking to engage with member of the public through traditional fisheries management techniques and “Scottish Eel Project” a data collection project aiming to establish an understanding of the eels living on the River Leven and River Esk. Unfortunately, all volunteering opportunities are currently suspended but as soon as we are back to normal there will be plenty to get involved in.
