Before all of the restriction we had an “eely” good day with Blackburn Primary School. Students from the School learned about the European eel and the issues this amazing creature faces to complete its lifecycle.
Each child held proud a glass eel (paper flag version of course) and travelled along our created river that was filled with dangers. These dangers were pollution, river barriers, over fishing, habitat loss and more! At each of these points a few glass eels would be lost until there was only one eel that reached its goal, pristine habitat! The kids loved the game, mostly because when they lost out to a danger on the river they got to pick their friend at the next one meaning they couldn’t win either!
Over lockdown event like this were no longer possible, but we didn’t want people to miss out. So we created an Eels and Ropes game that again follow the eel on its journey from the Sargasso Sea to freshwater and back again. This is a print off game (including printable counters and dice) so everyone can get involved from the comfort and safety of their homes. Enjoy!
