Members of the Forth Rivers Trust team Niall Provan, Charlotte Neary and Sandra Stewart had a stand at the recent Braco agricultural show.
Forth Rivers Trust work on the Allan Water Project undertaking many Natural Flood Management (NFM) activities. These not only aim to slow the flow of water in times of flood, but additionally enhance habitats for wildlife. The River Knaik runs along the edge of Braco and is a key tributary of the Allan Water – peatland restoration has already been carried out by FRT on several sites in the upper reaches of the Knaik catchment, with great results.
Having a presence at the show allows us to engage with local farmers and community members to explain the work the Trust does and get the community on board with new projects. Currently the team are working on a river restoration project on the mainstem of the Allan Water, upstream of Greenloaning, and we are planning additional peatland restoration projects.
Forth Rivers Trust works in collaboration with others to conserve, maintain and improve the quality of water, land, and freshwater habitats in the Forth area to bring benefits to both people and wildlife.
