King of Fish to be renamed Queen of Fish in memory of late monarch

Breaking! The mighty Atlantic salmon, also known as The King of fish to be re named the Queen of fish in memory of the late HRH Queen Elizabeth the 2nd . The national scientific advisory Council of Great Britain who advise the government on scientific matters but also on the naming of iconic British species have decided to rename the King of Fish to the Queen of fish.

David Attenborough who chairs the group said, we couldn’t think of anything more fitting to commemorate the passing of the late monarch and think it is a lovely tribute for the country.

David Attenborough also said: Salmon are an iconic species for Scotland and the rest of the UK and in massive decline due to barriers to fish passage blocking access to spawning habitats, sewage entering rivers in record breaking numbers, habitat degradation, climate change through river temperatures increasing and much more. We hope this name change highlights this iconic species and encourages communities, governments and agencies to tackle the pressures they face to save this iconic species.

Don’t worry though to all those traditionalists out there. The name change is only temporary until the new monarch HRH King Charles the 3rd is crowned on the 6th May 2023.
