Dynamic Rivers

Overview

Dynamic Rivers is an interactive learning module aimed at high school geography classes which incorporates the Curriculum for Excellence  learning outcomes and river learning.

Classroom Based Learning

The Trust has developed a series of classroom based learning activities which are aimed at S3 up. Using our interactive river table, we are able to demonstrate the three river processes (erosion, transportation and deposition). Using the table, we can show these processes right in front of students. The table also allows staff to demonstrate different impacts on rivers such as weirs, culverts, river bank erosion and more. We have developed a series of tools to mimic real life situations and can highlight how the river will react.

Outdoor Learning

The Trust can also provide outdoor learning on your local river. We have a series of activities which include measuring flow, mapping river types and learning about the river catchment. All activities would be tailored to your local river.

If any of the above is of interest to your group, please get in touch. As we are a charity, we may need to cover our costs involved and we would ask you get in touch to discuss further. Email hello@forthriverstrust.org or call 0131 445 1527.
