Management of Wetlands for Wildlife, Climate Mitigation and Natural Flood Management.

The Forth Rivers Trust are working, where appropriate within the Allan Water catchment, managing wetlands to maintain their diversity and allow their function of flood plains to return where this has been disrupted.  Creating peat dams in drained peat bogs helps restore active bogs, retain carbon and hold water for flood attenuation.  Peat dams are to be created this autumn on Red Moss lowland bog.
