Mental Health Awareness Week

This week we are looking forward to bringing you Mental Health Awareness Week. This is a UK initiative that takes place every year and is brought to you by the Mental Health Foundation. The focus of this year’s campaign is #kindness.

There is still a lot of stigma that surrounds the phrase ‘mental health’ and this is not a good thing to maintain for society. Every single person on the planet has mental health. Just as physical health refers to the state of our bodies, mental health refers to the state of our minds and emotions. It means our ability to enjoy and cope with life’s challenges. And, just as physical health changes regularly, our mental health can be altered with day to day life. Sometimes poor mental health days can be more regular than good ones; and sometimes more severe mental health problems may develop just as would happen with our physical health. But the important thing to remember is it is experienced by everybody everywhere.

And that is why this year’s initiative on why #kindnessmatters is so important. So many of us are experiencing poorer mental health currently and small acts of kindness can be incredibly beneficial to those who are struggling. If you want to know how you can help with acts of #kindness in your home or with your friends/community then have a read of this starter pack from the Mental Health Foundation.
