Nature Activity Kits for West Lothian Communities

This year during the period when people had to spend much more time at home and in the garden than usual, RiverLife worked with community groups around West Lothian to create nature-based activity kits that were sent out to households. They were full of activities for in the house and garden designed to get people involved with nature and help the local wildlife where they live. We have worked with Community Action Blackburn, Polbeth Community Hub and Craigshill Good Neighbour Network. Activities included building bird feeders, wildflower seed planting, creating habitat hotels for the wildlife that shares our outdoor spaces, building a squirrel picnic bench, Bug Bingo, planting kits for growing your own food, and many more. We also recently worked with Whitburn & District Community Development Trust to deliver a winter themed activity kit with a scavenger hunt to build a winter wreath and a Christmas bird pudding! We have been happy to see so many people getting involved with nature close to home.
