RiverLife: Almond & Avon has been an ambitious 5 year project making improvements to the River Almond and River Avon catchments. 

The project has worked with communities and partner organisations between 2016 and 2021 to carry out a range of engagement and restoration work to improve historic issues and engage communities with their local rivers.

RiverLife ran a number of projects which have included:

 

  • River Almond Barriers Project
  • Killandean Blue/Green Network
  • Upper Avon Enhancement Project
  • Bathgate Water Restoration
  • Riverfly Monitoring
  • Almond/Avon Invasive Non-Native Species

Project Partners

This was a partnership project between the
Forth Rivers Trust, West Lothian Council and
City of Edinburgh Council.

Funders

This project was funded by the Heritage
Lottery Fund, Scottish Government and
SEPA’s Water Environment Fund.
