The Allan Water Improvement Project has been successful in securing funding from Scottish Government to restore Red Moss lowland raised bog on Tigh-Na Blair Farm. The project will involve the farmer installing over 500 peat dams in ditches across the bog to raise water levels and allow bog plants such as sphagnum to recolonise the bog. This is a good example of natural flood management as the bog will hold more water and slow the flow during flood events. Work will begin late summer after the bird nesting season.Â
