Reforesting the Danny Burn

Staff are working with Blackford Estates and Highland Spring to restore the riparian woodland along the Danny Burn in the Allan Water catchment. Yesterday, staff from Highland Spring helped plant hundreds of trees along the lower reaches of the Danny Burn which will benefit the river but also the fish and wildlife that use the burn.

planting trees along the riparian corridor helps combat the effects of climate change by providing shade during prolonged hot and dry spells. If there is no shade, rivers can heat up causing issues for fish and wildlife that live in them.  

More tree planting is planned over the next few days working with staff from highland spring through their corporate volunteering scheme. Despite it being very windy, the rain held off for most of the day which made it an enjoyable experience for all. Home made muffins from Amy also went down a treat with the volunteers.
