Catchment Description
The Allan Water rises in the Ochil Hills. It then runs through Strathallan to Dunblane and Bridge of Allan before joining the River Forth. It is liable to cause floods in lower Bridge of Allan due to the management of the land in its upper reaches.
Historic influences
The Allan Water was heavily modified to support a growing number of farms and mills. Many weirs are still in place today and Tullibardine Distillery has one on the Danny Burn.

The Allan Water is currently undergoing management planning to improve the river basin and increase its ecological state from bad to good status under the Water Framework Directive guidelines.
