Another one bites the dust… That’s weir 3 out of 8 eased on the river Almond thanks to the RiverLife partnership. The contractors were full steam ahead after Christmas and completed the bypass channel last week, with it officially being opened on Thursday. The contractors opened the entrance to the new channel allowing water down it which will make it easier for fish to get up and around Rugby Club Weir.
If your passing, have a look over the footbridge, it looks great. The contractors will be on site for a few more weeks tidying up, and then we will need to let nature take its course for vegetation to growing back during the spring and summer.
The Ecological Clerks of Works plan to be at the footbridge over the new channel on Friday 1st Feb 10am-11am to answer any questions you may have about the works. Swing by and say hi if you see about.
