Sewage CSO's around the Firth of Forth
After a freedom of information request, the Trust has mapped locations of Combined Sewage Overflows (CSO’s) which discharge into rivers around the Forth. These outfalls should only be used as a last resort but we are finding that they are ever increasingly discharging due to no storm events.
Have a look at your local river, find out where your local CSO is and keep an eye on it. If it discharges during dry weather or when the river is low, report it to SEPA by calling 0800 80 70 60 or using their online reporting form here.
We have been working with volunteers to monitor outfalls along rivers in the Almond and Avon catchment. The results of this work can be found below in our interactive story map. Outfall Safari is a citizen science project which sees volunteers monitor outfalls into rivers to determine if they are causing an impact.
