Thousands got busy with their colouring pencils during lock down
When lock down hit we responded by commissioning a local artist (Morag Edward) to hand draw 3 colouring sheets that captured the abundant nature and revelling wildlife in some of our rivers. She found inspiration in the Almond, Water of Leith and the Devon, show casing all creatures great and small that grace our rivers.
Many of us found solace in our wild spaces during our single daily, government permitted trip out the house. Many of us suddenly found out that our walking or running routes followed the flows of many of our rivers. The resilience of our rivers seemed to provide many with the hope and grounding that life goes on and that everything eventually adapts.
However, lock down was hard for many so we teamed up with care homes, children’s centres, dementia activity provision services, food banks and community groups to send out over 2000 colouring sheets across the Forth catchment. We were delighted by the responses we got back and we’re always happy to see people take the time to colour in a lamprey or a trout!
