Volunteers needed for tree planting next week in Callander!🌳
We are working in partnership with Callander Community Council to create some new native river woods in Callander, adjacent to Callander Meadows.Â
We will be planting a mix of broadleaf trees; 3 species of Willow, Alder and Downy Birch – at Callandrade Meadows, helping boost water quality and riparian habitat. This planting will create wonderful habitat for a wide variety of species, from songbirds such as chiffchaff and butterflies like the speckled wood, to beavers, trout and salmon.
This will be taking place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 26th, 27th and 28th of March.
Planting will be carried out with handtools and we will give a full demonstration and tool talk before we start, so no experience necessary.
The ground is extremely wet and very uneven so site conditions are very challenging at the moment, Â and the work will involve some manual handling, bending and digging, so please only attend if you are confident with the work and spending the day out there.
Please wear wellies, waterproofs and warm clothing as well as a packed lunch and bring along some gloves if you have them. We will be able to supply extra gloves, tea and coffees and all the tools we need.
