Water Training Sessions for Local Litter Picking Groups

As part of our RiverLife small grants scheme we have been working with community groups around the district to help to supply them with litter picking equipment, so people can get out there and help clean up their local communities. As a part of this we have also supplied equipment for working in water, as many of our waterways do have ongoing issues with litter and fly-tipping. We have recently been out in small groups with members of the West Lothian Litter Pickers, instructing them on how to safely work in and around rivers and assisting them in some clean up sessions. We have recently helped WLLP clear a huge amount of waste from the Harwood Water as it runs through Polbeth in West Lothian. We have more training sessions planned for early 2021 with WLLP and other community groups, which we are very happy about as the more people that can safely help clean up our rivers the better!
