World Fish Migration Day – Baffles
Road and rail culverts and bridge aprons also impede migration of fish. This can be significantly improved by the installation of baffles on the bed of the culvert to provide a diversity of flow.
The bridge apron of the A71 near Polbeth in West Lothian was hindering fish passage to the headwaters of the Harwood Water and the Trust installed a low tech solution using timber baffles as part of the RiverLife Project.
Let the fish find the way. #WorldFishMigrationDay
