A Visit to East of England 2025 Trade Launch

by | Nov 14, 2024 | Leven LENs

Yesterday, the Leven LENs team—Amelia, Rachel, and Clara—had the pleasure of traveling to England to attend the East of England (EoE) 2025 Trade Launch. This event provided an invaluable opportunity to connect with stakeholders and learn from the longest-running LENs, now in its fifth year of trading.

The annual Trade Launch is a cornerstone event in each LENs, marking the start of a new trade cycle. It brings together businesses, farms and other stakeholders that are part of the trade. At the EoE 2025 Trade Launch, we heard form demand partners about their passion for investing in regenerative agriculture, farmers shared their perspectives on LENs and amazing innovations happening such as the setting up of the High Suffolk Farmer Cluster.  We also heard from LENs Company about the exciting new developments for the year ahead that you can read about in this blog.

Our team was truly impressed by the power of bringing stakeholders together from across industries, operations, and supply chains to share insights, foster collaboration, and exchange ideas. Seeing this level of connection highlighted the importance of relationship-building and trust as catalysts for impactful action.

“It was amazing to see how LENs creates networks of businesses, organisations and farms that can foster understanding and collaboration. This especially struck me during lunch, when a farm manager shared how LENs has enabled him to know what happens to his crops once they leave the farm, who uses them and what they ultimately become. It was no longer just about watching a grain truck depart; now he had a sense of the journey beyond the farmgate, something he could share with others who visit the farm.” – Clara

We left the event full of impressions, learnings, and insights—and with a need to process all we’d gained. Now, we feel more excited than ever to welcome and host Leven LENs stakeholders for a similar event in January.

New regenerative agriculture programme set to strengthen farm resilience and climate outcomes in Scotland

Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs), in collaboration with the Forth Rivers Trust, Diageo, SSEN and Perth & Kinross Council, today announced the launch of the LENs initiative in Scotland’s Leven catchment region, a project supported by FIRNS and NatureScot. The announcement was made at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh.

The initiative aims to build resilience across farming communities and the agricultural supply chain in the catchment, to enhance the livelihoods of local farmers and mitigate the impacts of climate change. The scoping work for this LENs programme has been supported by SRUC, who have provided academic and advisory support.

For its inaugural trade in 2025, LENs Leven has the support of three key partners – Diageo, Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Distribution and Perth & Kinross Council, who are set to invest in 10-15 farms in the region. All see significant potential for growth in LENs and are calling for further organisations to join, so that the drive towards collaboration can scale quickly in coming years in Scotland.
